FAQ

How often should I get my oil changed ?

On average, vehicles are estimated to need an oil change every 5,000 kilometers or every six months. This can vary based on your driving habits, your driving frequency, the age of your vehicle, and the quality of the oil you use. If you drive a newer vehicle, you might be able to safely wait a little longer between changes.

Should I worry about servicing my leased vehicle ?

It is important to make sure you maintain and service your vehicle at the required intervals. Not having regular service and maintenance performed on a leased vehicle not only means the warranty will be voided but could cause you to incur a substantial fee at the lease's end.

Do I need to charge my battery after I jump-start my vehicle ?

If your car does start, let it run for a few minutes to help charge the battery further. Unhook the clamps in the reverse order of how you put them on. Be sure to drive your car for about 30 minutes before stopping again so the battery can continue to charge. Otherwise, you might need another jump start.

How do I know when I need new brakes ?

One of the most obvious signs that it's time for brake service is squeaky brakes.
If you can clearly tell that there is over 1/4 of an inch left on the pad, the brake pads are likely fine. If the pad is under ¼ of an inch, it's likely time for brake service and you should make an appointment at OKTire Crowfoot very soon.

Today, we have over 300 locations coast to coast, and continue to grow! Each OK Tire store is independently owned and operated, having quick and easy access to the product in our 10 regional distribution centers that span across Canada, carrying the most popular sizes and brands in today's market.

What is the OK Tire Warranty ?

Our North American Warranty Program covers 12 Months or 20,000 km’s – whichever occurs first, on most services and repairs.

Do I Really Need Winter Tires?

Winter tires gain their advantage not only because they have superior tread patterns that are designed for traction on ice and snow, but because they employ softer rubber compounds to enhance grip. That means when it's cold, whether it's on dry pavement, snow, or slush, they will outperform an all-season tire.

How Often Should I Have My Brakes Checked?

Ideally, you should have your brakes inspected once every six months. Most people have this done at the same time as they have their tires rotated, so they don't forget. If you cannot recall the last time a professional examined your braking system, you should arrange an appointment as soon as possible.

What is Preventative Maintenance?

Preventative Maintenance is regular maintenance of your vehicle that helps keep your automobile running efficiently and eliminating potential problems that may leave you stranded. Manufacturers know that a properly maintained car will be more dependable, safer, last longer, and increase your satisfaction with their product.

How do I know when my car needs a tune up?

You may see your gas mileage decrease. Your vehicle may start running rough. If your check engine light comes on that could also be an indicator that your vehicle needs a tune up. The owner’s manual that came with your vehicle may suggest a tune up at a certain mileage.

How often should I rotate my tires?

Your tires should be rotated every other oil change, or every 8,000 kilometers. Neglecting to rotate tires is a major cause of premature tire wear.

What should I do if my car starts to overheat?

This is a very serious problem – if your car overheats for too long, you can damage your engine. As soon as possible, find a safe place to pull off the road and shut the engine off! Do not attempt to check the fluid level in the radiator; the hot fluid can cause severe burns. The best thing to do is have your car towed to OK Tire Crowfoot and we can diagnose the problem for you.
